FACING Your Face L iquid sunscreen loses its effectiveness in both hot and cold temperature extremes. The ideal sun protection for the face in the winter is powdered mineral sunscreen. It's stable in the cold and does not need to be re-applied throughout the day. The combination of cold temperatures, low humidity, and wind cause the skin to dry out and lose its normal luster. Try these tips to keep your skin glowing: Use a moisturizing cleanser instead of soap. Switch to a high quality barrier cream moisturizer and apply it at least twice a day. Remember to apply your sunblock daily--preferably one containing zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.
