A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time." ~ MARK TWAIN T HERE MAY BE MORE THAN 10 WAYS TO DIE IN YEL- LOWSTONE, as you'll find out in this issue, but there are many more reasons to be alive in Montana in the summer season. Really, too many to mention. But let's try to offer you our 10 personal favorite pastimes and enjoyments... things we've learned to love enough to repeat on many occasions. 1. PUBLIC LANDS AND TRAILS. Endless variety of escapes and escapades. Walk. Hike. Bike. Horse-around. 2. WATERWAYS. Kayak, float, raft and fish... from small springs and streams to the big Missouri and classic Yellowstone rivers. 3. YELLOWSTONE. e only park of its kind on the planet. Geo- thermal surprises and iconic critters. 4. GLACIER PARK. Quintessential Montana. Big mountains. Big sky. Big adventure. 5. ROADS. Special routes… from the Brewery Trail to the Pie Trail, Dinosaur Trail, and the bumpity-bump-bump Magruder. 6. GHOST TOWNS. Nevada City and Bannack for sure, but several more to haunt. 7. FESTIVALS AND EVENTS. Seem nearly endless. Check the EVENTS page at the end of this magazine and on distinctlymontana.com 8. NIGHT SKIES. 70% of America sees no stars at night. Join the other 30% here in Montana. 9. CITIES. From Billings and Red Lodge to Missoula, Philips- burg... and beyond. Fun and Culture, Montana-style. 10. VIEWS. Instructions: Settle down. Look.
