RUSSELL MUSEUM Premiere sale of Russell art over three days precedes the Western Art Rendevouz in March but this museum is worth a visit anytime. Its 70,000 square feet is home to 12,000 objects and works of not only Charles Russell but other well-known artists. It includes Russell's home an studio, which is fi lled with the cowboy gear and Indian artifacts he used when he painted and sculpted. www.cmrussell.org Fort Peck FORT PECK THEATRE Go for a thrilling theatrical experience by top professionals. Glacier National Park The historic BELTON CHALET, just outside the west entrance to Glacier National Park, was built in 1910. After a day of outdoor recreation enjoy a massage at the Spa, sit by the fi replace, or play ping pong, shuffl eboard, and other games. Top your day off at one of the restaurants. Butte RINGING ROCKS, 18 miles east of Butte and north on I-90, just beyond Pipestone trailhead. Rough road to get there but worth the trip. The rocks chime when tapped with a stone. Watch for bears. Have plenty of gas and supplies. Only four other places in the world have this rare phenomenon. While near Butte, visit its museums. For example, the MAI WAH MUSEUM preserves the history and culture of the Asian people who helped settle Butte and other mining ar- eas. Between Libby and Troy Hwy 2, milepost 21 Downstream where the Kootenai River enters a canyon is one of the largest free-fl owing waterfalls in the northwest. A forest trail leads to the SWINGING BRIDGE, making a nice hike. Kootenai Falls was the set- ting for the movie River Wild.
