Honestly, it's getting a little embarrassing. Are things really that good in Montana? Well, it looks like the answer just might be "yes." The one scoring that really captured our attention was Gallup's recent poll on some- thing called "state pride." The survey determined that residents of states exhibiting a lot of pride in where they live "have relatively low populations… boast a greater standard of living, higher trust in state government, and less resentment toward the amount they pay in state taxes." Oddly, the states which demonstrated the most pride showed a high correlation with cold, mountainous climate (bingo on that one!). On top, after all 50 tallies: Montana and Alaska in a tie. Now, though we can't speak for the Alas- kans, we do admit to agreeing that things are pretty darn good here in Montana, and that there seems to be a general consensus among those we know that, while there might be a better place to live, there probably isn't. And if there is a better place to live, why bother? We're as close to "best" as you can get, if we do say so ourselves. And, in the end, we don't have to say anything…everyone else does. So…what's the best thing about Montana? Just ask us. a NotE froM tHE PubLISHErS "You can fall in lo ve at fIrSt SIgHt WItH a PLaCE aS WItH a PErSoN." ~alec Waugh Bill Muhlenfeld, Publisher bill@distinctlymontana.com Anthea George, Publisher anthea@distinctlymontana.com a frEE gIft for takINg our SurVEy!
