Surgery Robots a
Boon for Patients
at Benefis Helena
Specialty Center
The path to a healthier new chapter leads
through an operating room, a talented surgeon,
and a high-tech robot for many of our patients
at Benefis Helena Specialty Center.
"Robotic assistance during a knee replacement is an exciting
technology that is being adopted across the nation, and
we're fortunate to have it here," Benefis orthopedic surgeon
Dr. Jace Bullard said.
Robotic-assisted joint surgeries are the least invasive. That means
less blood loss, less scarring, and reduced post-operative pain.
With the robot's assistance, the surgeon works with an enhanced
visualization of the patient's anatomy, allowing them to operate
with more accuracy and better safety.
The robot helps the surgeon make precise movements for an
accurate operation and minimal damage to surrounding nerves
and tissues. This also often means a shorter recovery time so
patients can put those new joints to use.
The Helena Specialty Center, which celebrated its opening one
year ago this spring, has operating rooms for outpatient surgeries
including total joint replacement; cancer treatment with an infusion
suite; the region's most advanced imaging services; cardiac imaging;
a laboratory; and 34 exam rooms for a mix of Helena-based and
Great Falls-based specialists in oncology, sleep medicine, family
medicine, gynecology, general surgery, gastroenterology, neurology,
podiatry, and ear, nose, and throat.
