Bozeman wildlife biologist BRUCE SMITH is an
award-winning author of five nonfiction books of
natural history, science, and outdoor adventure,
including Life on the Rocks: A Portrait of the Amer-
ican Mountain Goat, which won the National Out-
door Book Award. His new middle-grade eco-adventure trilo-
gy, Legend Keepers, costars an orphaned mountain goat and a
twelve-year-old boy.

DOUG SCHMITTOU resides in Billings and is a freelance
writer. His research focuses on travel in the North-
ern Rockies, evidence-based wellness protocols,
and nineteenth-century Plains Indian art, materi-
al culture and ethnohistory. Previous publications
appeared in Montana The Magazine of Western
History, Plains Anthropologist and American Indian Quarterly.

CHRYSTI "THE WORDSMITH" SMITH was born some de-
cades ago in Poplar, where she misspent her youth
riding horses and motorcycles. Putting those things
behind her as adult, she turned toward studies in
archeology/anthropology at MSU, where she also
accidentally discovered radio broadcasting. She has been pro-
ducing "Chrysti the Wordsmith" at MSU's radio facility, KGLT-
FM, since 1990.

CHARLIE DENISON is a freelance writer and newspa-
per editor who—10 years ago—fell in love with hot
springs (and a beautiful Montana native), inspiring
the Indiana native to make Montana his long-term
home. When not writing or soaking, he enjoys
playing music and exploring more of the Treasure State with
his wife. They live in Boulder.
