S THE DAYS GROW LONGER AND THOSE FIRST FEW
FLEETING DAYS OF DELICIOUS EARLY SUMMER WEATHER
TEMPT US, THERE'S STILL NO ESCAPING THE FACT THAT
2020 WILL BE A SUMMER FAR DIFFERENT THAN ANY THAT HAS
COME BEFORE IT. Tragic national events have shaped the psyche of
America for centuries, but none has caused such massive upheaval to how
Montanans, and indeed humans everywhere, live their daily lives. This
year has delivered a string of shocking events that have left us reeling. It's
also reminded us of all the things that we love most about being Montan-
ans.
As we step into summer and orient ourselves to a strange new future,
we walk into the second half of 2020 with a sense of cautious optimism.
While the season ahead may be profoundly different than any that has
come before, we hope to take stock of and enjoy all the things that make
Montana such a magical, wonderful place. In this issue, we've rounded up
some of our favorite Montana places and presented them as a convenient
guide to help you navigate your Montana summer.
You'll find everything from the breathtaking backcountry of Glacier
National Park to lesser-known gems like the World Museum of Mining
in Butte. We hope that this issue will prompt you to turn off the news, hit
the road, and head out into Montana's endless wilds to soak up what may
be the only summer in our lifetimes where we can experience some of
Montana's crown jewels without the usual crush of crowds.
Everyone here at Distinctly Montana sends you our best wishes for a
summer brimming with health, wealth, and happiness.
