w w w . d i s t i n c t l y m o n t a n a . c o m 9 T HERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT THE FALL SEASON WHICH IS BOTH CAPTIVATING IN NATURE AND YET CALMING TO RESTLESS SPIRITS. In Montana it is the brief interval after the bright exuberance of summer and the cold clutch of our white and heavy winter. It is a time of last chances— of short adventures and outings, of final hikes, rides, even of drives through some parts of this glorious state. But we can also think of autumn as a time of reflection and a time of planning. A time of what has been done, and what needs to be done. While our physical being reacts to the changes in weather and light in primordial fashion, our spirits are resolving past regrets and contemplating better behaviors and outcomes. As the trees shed and the die-off occurs, so too does our psyche rid itself of lapsed plans and broken promises. It is now a time to resolve to just do better. So, yes, by all means enjoy these last days of the paling sun and the quickening of fickle wind and weather. Wrap yourself in fall's crackle of browns and golds using all your senses, and breathe in the nature of change—of the season, and of yourself. Autumn is a season of the soul.
