LEWISTOWN
THE BIG SNOWY MOUNTAINS are located 15 miles south of
Lewistown at the center of the state. Abundant wildlife,
not many people, caves carved out of limestone. Instead of
a high rugged summit line, an eight-mile long tundra-like
meadow, 8,200 feet high make up a large part of the top.
From there on a clear day you can see for 300 miles. For
a good overview map, use the Lewis and Clark National
Forest Jefferson Division Visitors Map.
