Learn the story of Pierre's life while touring the grounds, where you'll find a Montana Centennial Train Car, which went to the World's Fair in New York in 1964, an antique barber shop and a livery stable. 11 O'FALLON HISTORICAL MUSEUM Venture to the former O'Fallon County Jail for thousands of items showcasing life on the Montana prairie, plus the not-to-be- missed main attraction, Steer Montana. This roan polled shorthorn remains the largest steer on record, weighing in at 3,980 pounds. As the story goes, he gained his girth from eating mash, leftover from bootleggers' stills. 12 MEDICINE ROCKS STATE PARK Mystery is part of the allure here at this place of "big medicine," where spirits were once conjured up by American Indian hunting parties. Stroll among the strange and mesmerizing swiss-cheese-like sandstone spires of wind-worn, haunting hoodoos that turn vibrant yellows, oranges and reds as the sun rises or set. Walk among centuries-old petroglyphs and listen for stories echoing over time. 13 CARTER COUNTY MUSEUM Montana's first county museum houses an impressive collection of firearms, American Indian artifacts and, of course, dinosaur bones. Stand in awe of an authentic Hadrosaur and view a Pachycephalosaurus, Triceratops skull and infant Tyrannosaurus Rex, all found locally in the Hell Creek Formation. 14 MONTANA BAR Wrap up your road trip in Miles City with a visit to Montana's best-preserved saloon and imagine you're drinking whiskey alongside rich cattle barons (or ruthless cattle rustlers). Opened in 1908, this Miles City icon still retains the original ornate Italian tile floor, cherry wood tables, wooden bar (which arrived by steamboat in 1912) and shiny gold 1914 cash register. 15 TONGUE RIVER WINERY As Southeast Montana's only vineyard and winery, Tongue River Winery provides an intimate opportunity to talk and taste wines grown, harvested, crafted and bottled on-site. Located just outside of Miles City, the boutique winery's hosts love to show off their passion with personal tours and one-on-one tastings of the fruits from the northern plains. Be sure to ask about the award-winning selections. Inset Photos – 1. Range Riders Museum - Miles City, Montana Office of Tourism and Business Development; Downtown Miles City, R.
