W W W. D I S T I N C T LY M O N TA NA . C O M 71 Walk in care was designed as an option for those who may not be able to get an appointment with their primary care provider or for after-hours care. The purpose of walk-in care is for an acute, non-life threatening injury or illness. Most clinics offer extended hours to allow individuals to seek care before or after work, on weekends, and often holidays. Walk-in care should not be confused with emergency care. If you have signs or symptoms of a heart a†ack, stroke or severe trauma or any of the following conditions, please do visit an emergency room. Examples of when individuals should seek Emergency Room care (ER or ED) include but are not limited to, chest pain, breathing problems, fevers that are high or can't be controlled, injuries from falls or accidents that result in head injuries, broken bones, severe pain, and/ or bleeding. If you do seek care in an ER as a result of an injury or severe illness, your records of that visit are then forwarded to your primary care provider so they may keep an accurate and up-to- date file of your health. The Great Falls Clinic recommends finding a provider that is right for you. We are happy to help you along this journey. Please give us a call at 406-454-2171 or visit our website at gfclinic.com for more information. Communication is important when selecting the right place and reason to receive care. These decisions can be stressful on all patients and we at the Great Falls Clinic understand this. We want to be supportive and help guide you through the often complicated healthcare world. It is important to know that preventative maintenance is much more cost effective than crisis management. Seeking care from a provider who knows you, can help you identify and prevent high cost illnesses and injuries. The purpose of walk-in care is for an acute, non-life threatening injur y or illness.
