Publishers A NOTE FROM THE “To change AND TO CHANGE FOR THE BETTER ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.” ~GERMAN PROVERB Greetings and Welcome! On Labor Day of this year our own labors began as new owners and publishers of Distinctly Montana, a magazine with an excellent reputation and history, and a publication which now aspires to even greater reaches of excellence. We have retained the best of the old DM, which includes wonderful articles and features, gorgeous photography and art, and the uncompromising editorial strength of DM edi- tor, Valerie Harms. To that fortuitous base we have added a wealth of new, categorized content, a complete magazine photographs, and art—in a style and manner to comple- ment the high quality of the magazine. As publishers, our goal is simple and our vision clear. Distinctly Montana will always be the best way to discover the sense of adventure, inspiration, and spirit of what we con- sider to be the most magnificent state in the union. Really. Why do you think Montana is called “The Last Best Place?” For advertisers, our commitment is all about relation- be the best way to discover the most magnificent state in the union. Our goal redesign from the uber-talented, Robert Rath, and an ambi- tious assault on the Internet. We call itDMd—Distinctly Montana digital (www. distinctlymontana.com). For readers, Montana residents, and visitors alike, this means that we intend to surprise you with our editorial approach, charm you with our content, and amaze you with all that we can truly call “distinct” when it comes to Our Treasure State. For our contributors, the best among you, we will continue to feature your work—your words, is simple: ships. Yes, we want you to advertise with us, and for good reasons—up to 350,000 good reader-reasons per issue. But, as owners, we are committed to building long-term relation- ships with the people and busi- nesses who advertise with us, to understand their needs, to help in creating identifiable “brands,” and to invite readers through our printed pages and Web site, and then to your home page and your own front door. Who are we? We are you. We were once visitors, we have been Montanans for many years, we are contributors to the maga- zine’s content, we are advertisers ourselves, and we are business owners. With this issue we present the NEW Distinctly Montana magazine. Read. Enjoy. And…please give us feedback.
